Respiratory disease refers to any pathology that affects all or sections of the respiratory tract and ultimately the lungs. An article published in the LANCET estimated that in 2017 544 million people worldwide were affected by chronic respiratory diseases (Soranio et al., 2020). In the post-COVID-19 era this estimate has increased even further. In addition, with the focus on COVID-related symptoms, the general population has become more aware of respiratory symptoms.
The purpose of this short course is to provide healthcare professionals with a systematic, evidence-based approach to diagnosing and managing common respiratory diseases, and through that, to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.

This comprehensive short course is designed as an interactive asynchronous e-Learning short course.
Part 1: Clinical management of asthma.
Part 2: Clinical management of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
Part 3: Clinical management of COVID-19 pulmonary disease.
The minimum period for completion is 30-hours and is highly dependent on prior knowledge of the subject field.
FPD will award successful participants with a CPD certificate of completion after obtaining a minimum cumulative average of 70% on the assessment.
Accredited according to the HPCSA’s Medical and Dental Board Guidelines for Healthcare Professionals for 30 Clinical CEU’s on Level 2.
