Strategic Procurement is an interesting field of study in the broader context of Supply Chain Management and more specifically the Purchasing Function. Globally, Strategic Procurement has taken on significant importance at Board and Executive levels as organisations and businesses clearly see the long-term sustainable benefits of implementing Strategic Procurement instead of a transactional routine approach to procuring goods and services used in the execution of its business activities.
This short course is intended to introduce learners to the concepts and principles of Strategic Procurement and for learners to be able to apply these concepts and principles in real-world situations, which may include organisational procurement functions; business strategies; strategic initiatives to optimise costs; improve efficiencies; and even in personal and family spending or buying behaviours.
In this short course, we will understand how Strategic Procurement and Supply Chain Management inter-relate with each other; what does a Strategic Procurement Framework look like; what processes do we use to execute Strategic Procurement; how do we measure Strategic Procurement success; and lastly what are the global trends and future-view of Strategic Procurement.
