Introduction

It is with great pleasure that Foundation for Professional Development (FPD) and Golden Key International Honorary Society (GKIHS) invites you, a select group of GKIHS members, to participate in this Financial Management course.  Financial Management is a critical pillar in ensuring operations are successful and is a key competency in any leadership role. This course aims to equip you with the fundamentals of financial management and pioneers an innovative assessment in the form of a game. In addition to receiving complimentary access to the course and testing our innovative assessment game, you will also receive Credit Accumulation Transfer (CAT) towards our NQF level six qualification: Advanced Certificate in Management

 

Participants are provided with a special offer of enrolling for FPD’s Advanced Certificate in Management [AdvCert (Management)] (SAQA ID: 74379, 120 Credits) at a discounted rate of 10% after completion of this course. Participants will also be eligible for Credit Accumulation and Transfer (CAT) for a total of 12 credits towards the AdvCert (Management).

Participants who register for the [AdvCert (Management] will have to complete the other 10 modules of the formal qualification and meet the assessment requirements in order to receive this qualification.

Course Design

The Short Course in Financial Management is an eLearning course, that consists of self-study module in the form of written material, as well as an innovative assessment through gamification.

Learning Outcomes

After completion of this course, a participant will be able to:

  • Understand the basic financial concepts, procedures, calculations and activities of an enterprise.
  • Demonstrate analytical skills through finding, organising, assessing and, analysing financial data appropriate to a given situation.
  • Use ratio analysis to understand the performance of an organisation.
  • Demonstrate information technology skills as they apply to today's business environment to solve business problems.
  • Communicate effectively using written mathematical skills by drawing up a budget and use it to control costs.

Course Content

The following study units are included in this short course:

  • Introduction to finance and accounting
  • Sources and applications of capital in a business
  • Management of profitability
  • Cash flow management
  • Ratio analysis
  • Budgetary planning and control 

 

Assessment

Participants will be required to work through nine levels of the game and complete a final quiz for which a pass rate of 50% is required in order to be successful.

Course Duration

Participants will have access to the course for a duration of one month.  Approximately one week is required to work through the self-study component and 2-4 hours to complete the assessment.

Certification

FPD will award you a certificate of completion on completing the course.
