Our secondary and tertiary institutions do not fully equip graduates for the world of work, which often creates a gap in the individual’s skillset, preventing them from either landing a job, or gaining that promotion they desire to advance their careers. The HCert (Management) is an entry level management programme that successfully develops the skills of young potential managers, supervisors and team leaders.
Students that enrol on this programme are exposed to complex business environments and are challenged to think differently through self-assessment and reflection. Through examining a range of management concepts, students discover winning techniques that improve their ability to manage in an ever-changing world. The most relevant management subjects have been weaved together to form a solid educational foundation for the emerging manager.

The Higher Certificate in Management was designed to equip learners with the necessary business and management skills needed to navigate the workplace effectively. The four core modules are modeled around the four main management functions of planning, leading, organising and controlling.

This course is based on the adult education approach, which means that delegates will need to take full responsibility for their learning.
Pre-course work: Each module is supported with customised pre-course materials. The pre-course material is user-friendly and affords delegates the opportunity to apply key learning concepts to their individual context within their working environment.

The HCert (Management) is a 12-month programme, participants therefore have 12 months to complete.
Students will be assessed by means of both formative and summative assessments. With a minimum of one written assignment and one examination per module.
The admission requirement is a Grade 12 National Senior Certificate OR an NQF Level 4 qualification.

Step 1: Apply for enrolment
You will be required to complete and submit and application form for enrolment, together with supporting documents, please note there is a non-refundable R 300.00 application fee. Please note that by signing the Application Form and submitting the supporting documents you indicate that you understand that, should your qualification(s) be found to be misrepresented or from a degree mill, then your name will be included in the Register of Misrepresented Qualifications and Providers operating outside of the South African NQF (RMQP). You will also not receive the qualification.

Once you have submitted your application, along with all supporting documentation, you will receive correspondence from FPD regarding the outcome of your application.
Step 2: Apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) / Credit Accumulation & Transfer (CAT)
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Applicants aiming to enter the FPD proposed HCert (Management) programme may already be working in a management context and/or have gained knowledge as a result of learning in the workplace and in other settings. If this applies to you, you can apply for RPL by providing testimonials/reference letter from previous or current employers. The testimonials/reference letter must include the number of years worked and your responsibilities/duties.
Credit Accumulation & Transfer (CAT)
Students who have previously successfully completed relevant modules, courses or programmes at FPD or another institution and who wish to have such modules, courses or programmes recognised by FPD should apply for CAT.
The following supporting documentation is required to be submitted:
You will receive correspondence from FPD regarding the outcome of the CAT.
Step 3: Registration and Payment
Successful applicants will also receive an invoice from FPD, in order to make payment. A 10% non-refundable registration fee is required upfront. As a student you have the option of paying the remainder of the fees at the start of each quarter or alternatively you may also pay for the entire qualification in advance.
Once proof of payment has been received, you will receive an acknowledgement letter with a link for you to register on the FPD Student Portal.
The HCert (Management) is a formally registered and accredited qualification, registered on the NQF as a level 5 qualification for 120 credits.
SAQA ID: 73498
Students will receive a certificate of completion for the HCert (Management) if they successfully complete all the individual tests, assignments and examinations.
